Important updates on minimum reporting threshold for Custom Channels and Search Styles

The email from Google AdSense explains an upcoming adjustment to how they report on your custom channels and search styles. These features are valuable tools for website owners, allowing them to track ad performance in specific sections of their site.

Previously, AdSense included all channels and styles in your reports, irrespective of how many clicks they received. This could lead to reports overloaded with information about channels that weren't generating much ad revenue.

The key update is that starting on August 21st, 2024, AdSense will only show detailed metrics (like clicks, click-through rates, and cost-per-click) for channels and styles that garner at least 10 clicks in a single day. If a channel or style falls below this threshold, AdSense will still collect that data, but it won't be displayed in your reports. Instead, those reports will display zeros for clicks and other click-related metrics.

It's important to understand that this change only applies to click-based information. Other data, such as impressions (the number of times an ad is shown), won't be affected and will continue to be reported regardless of the number of clicks.

In essence, this update aims to simplify your AdSense reports by filtering out data from channels and styles that aren't generating significant clicks. This can make it much easier to focus on the well-performing areas of your website and potentially optimize your ad placement strategy for better results.

Here's an additional point to consider: The email mentions that Google might refine the scope of affected metrics in the future. While the immediate focus is on filtering click-derived metrics, there's a possibility of this expanding to include other metrics. However, the email assures you that this won't happen right away.

The minimum reporting thresholds for click-derived metrics on Custom Channels and Search Styles will increase to 10 clicks per day.

Dear Partner,

We're writing to share important updates about the launch we previously communicated for changes to reporting thresholds for custom channels and search styles in your AdSense for Search (AFS) and/or AdSense for Domains (AFD) account.

We previously informed you that on May 15, 2024, the minimum reporting thresholds for Custom Channels and Search Styles will increase.

After carefully considering partner feedback, starting Aug 21, 2024, we will begin adjusting the minimum reporting thresholds for the following click-derived metrics (listed below) on Custom Channels and Search Styles to 10 clicks per day.

Clicks CLICKS

This change will introduce a filter on reporting. Rows that contain click-derived Custom Channel or Search Style (or other dimensions combined with either one of them) need to have at least 10 clicks to be shown. We will not remove click-derived data for rows with less than 10 clicks, but instead will show them as 0.

Other available metrics in your reporting are not impacted by this change. The scope of this list may be refined in the future, but our immediate priority is to filter only click-derived metrics.

We appreciate your understanding and patience.

The Google AdSense Team
