Among these, Extreme Demons are the top tier of challenge—levels so brutal that only a handful of the best players can complete them. As of mid-2025, one name stands above all others.

  1. Technical Precision Required – The level demands pixel-perfect timing across many different gameplay modes (ship, wave, gravity etc.). 

  2. Varied Mechanics – Amethyst is known for its shifts in gameplay styles, tight sections, fast transitions, and demanding memory and skill. 

  3. Community Recognition – According to the Demonlist (a community ranking of the hardest verified Extreme Demons), Amethyst recently bumped off Tidal Wave, which held the top spot for over 600 days. 

How It Compares to Other Extreme Demons

To give more context:

• Tidal Wave held the #1 position for a long time but has since been overtaken 

• Other levels close to the top in terms of difficulty include Thinking Space II, etc.

Amethyst is now seen as the level that truly redefines what “hardest demon” means in the current meta—speed, precision, memory, and mechanical variety all come into play at the maximum.
