PHILADELPHIA A year ago, Cristopher Snchez had only made six major league starts over three seasons, all filling in when needed. Fast forward to Saturday, and the 27-year-old Snchez sat alongside Phillies president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, to announce a four-year contract extension. The deal also includes team options for 2029 and 2030.

"As much as we admire Cristopher, Id be lying if I said that, at this time last year, when he first came up, I thought wed be here today talking about the success hes had," Dombrowski admitted. "What hes done has truly been impressive. "

Manager Rob Thomson echoed the sentiment. "Id be dishonest if I said I saw this coming. His journey has been incredible. "
